- What
is GCAC?
- Estabished in 1993, Green
Castle Aero Club, Ltd (GCAC) is a corporation
dedicated to the advancement of private aviation
through flight training, safety seminars and
community participation. All members are
shareholders in the corporation which is
administered by a Board of Directors. The GCAC
offers:
A
membership-operated private facility for flight
training, aircraft rental and maintenance.
A
friendly and family-oriented environment for the
safe and economical flying of certified
aircraft.
The
opportunity to experience the pleasure of flying
at a friendly and simple rural airport.
A
facility where all types of aviation enthusiasts
from r/c modelers to warbird owners can feel
welcome to really fly, or merely to "hangar
fly".
A life-time membership of
$150 and inexpensive monthly dues (waived for those
with hangared aircraft) provide the benefits
enjoyed by more than 100 members. The GCAC is
administered by an elected Board of Directors which
encourages members to take an active role in their
meetings. The Chief Pilot is a CFII with more then
20,000 hours of flight time and 30 years of flight
training experience. If you always wanted to fly
for no reason except for fun, or merely wanted the
social camaraderie of aviators, the Green Castle
Aero Club, Ltd is for you. For more details call
the airport at 319 - 545 - 2101 or GCAC President Rick
Treiber at 319 - 626 - 7014.
-
- In an effort to educate
people about the history of the airport known as
Green Castle and to tell the story of how Green
Castle Aero club was established, the following two
stories are offered for your reading. Perhaps after
reading about our history, someone, somewhere else
will be inspired to begin their own flying
club!
