Pilot and Instructional Guidelines
1. Only members of the Green Castle Aero Club, LTD
may pilot club aircraft.
2. To qualify as a pilot in a Green Castle Aero
Club aircraft, the club member must:
A. be an active member of the aero club in
good standing (see by-laws)
B. be qualified in the aircraft type
C. have achieved a level of piloting skill
commensurate with the proposed flight
D. meet all FAR currency requirements
3. Individuals holding a pilot's license at the
time of joining the club must take a check ride with
an approved Green Castle Aero Club CFI before piloting
each different type of aero club aircraft.
4. Only CFI's authorized by the Board of Directors
of the Green Castle Aero Club may give instruction in
aero club aircraft.
Rules of Use for Aircraft
of the Green Castle Aero Club, LTD
1. All flights in aircraft owned by the Green
Castle Aero Club. LTD must be conducted in accordance
with current FARs.
2. All documents which are required by the FAA to
be in the aircraft (the airworthiness certificate,
current registration, operating manual and weight and
balance data sheet) must be in the aircraft when it is
flown. According to FARs, assurance of this is the
responsibility of the PIC.
3. Each aero club aircraft has its own "Maintenance
Logbook" which details time of usage, user's name,
fuel loaded, oil added and any squawks concerning the
condition of the aircraft. The is kept in the Flight
Office.
4. It is the responsibility of the PIC to assure
that the aircraft is airworthy.
5. Club aircraft may be used only on airports.
Their off-airport use violate corporate by-laws and in
such situations, the PIC must assume all
responsibility for damages (see Financial
Responsibilities, below).
6. The use of club aircraft for commercial
purposes, other than as transportation on a business
trip or for instruction of members by the aero club
authorized CFI's, is prohibited.
7. Any night use of club aircraft must be done in
strict accordance with FARs governing currency and
on-board equipment.
8. Before each flight, the PIC must do the
following:
A. Check oil level. In the case of any
aero club aircraft, the amount added must be
recorded in the Maintenance Log.
B. Check the fuel level. No aircraft can be
flown without sufficient fuel to fly at least one
hour more than the scheduled flight. Record the
amount of fuel added in the Flight Office "Fuel
Log".
C. Properly preflight the aircraft.
9. After each flight, the PIC must:
A. Refuel the aircraft if the fuel level
is below one-half full, and record the amount added
in the Fuel Log in the Flight Office.
B. Turn off all switches, lights, etc.
C. Remove all personal items from the
aircraft.
D. Appropriately secure the aircraft (e.g.
tie-down, lock controls, etc.) before leaving the
aircraft.
10. Any member noting a malfunction of any type
should place an obvious warning notice on the aircraft
instrument panel and immediately notify the
maintenance officer or another officer of the Green
Castle Aero Club, LTD.
11. All members who encounter mechanical problems
at an airport other than the Green Castle Airport
should first notify by phone an officer of the aero
club before authorizing repairs to be made away from
Green Castle.
12. All expenses incurred at other airports
(repair, fuel, etc.) must be paid by the member and a
receipt submitted to the treasurer of the Green Castle
Aero Club, LTD for deduction from the hourly rental
fee. Credit is not approved for expenses such as
airport tolls, tie-down fees and hanger fees.
13. All students must obtain a verbal "O.K." from a
sanctioned Green Castle Aero Club CFI before flying
solo at least once for each day of flying.
14. Students may not solo an aero club aircraft in
a crosswind without authorization from a CFI of the
Green Castle Aero Club, LTD.
Scheduling
1. All scheduling of Green Castle aircraft and
instructors is accomplished by way of an
internet-based scheduling system. Instructions for
using the online system can be found by going to the
scheduling page.
1. Short-term reservations for aircraft (two hours
or less) will be automatically canceled if the reserve
does not arrive within 30 minutes. If the plane is
reserved for more than two hours, check with an aero
club officer or the pilot who scheduled it before
canceling the reservation.
2. Should a delay occur which will prevent flight
termination at the scheduled termination time, a phone
call should be made to notify an aero club officer of
this fact. If no officer is available, leave a message
on the club's answering machine.
Financial Responsibilities
of Aero Club Members
1. Charter memberships are family memberships which
can be purchased for a one-time fee of $150. This
allows any family member (family is defined to include
the spouse and any children 17 or under living at
home) who is current and qualified in type, to pilot
an aero club aircraft. The costs and conditions of
future memberships may be raised at the pleasure of
the Board of Directors in accordance with the by-laws
of the Green Castle Aero Club, LTD.
2. Monthly dues are to be paid semi-annually or
annually.
3. Should a member become delinquent in the payment
of his/her monthly dues, membership in the Green
Castle Aero Club, LTD will be canceled if the
delinquency exceeds $120.00. Should this member wish
to rejoin at a future date, he/she would pay the
one-time membership fee which is in force at the time
that the member wishes to rejoin.
4. Flight rates, monthly dues and hanger rent shall
be determined by the Board of Directors of the Green
Castle Aero Club, LTD in accordance with the corporate
by-laws.
5. Instructor fees shall be arranged and paid
directly to the CFI's sanctioned by the Green Castle
Aero Club, LTD.
6. Credit on unpaid balances will not be extended
for more than 30 days. No further use of club aircraft
will be allowed until delinquent balances are paid.
Payment in full at the time of aircraft usage is
encouraged but not mandatory.
7. In the event of an accident in which no
intentional violation of the FARs ( in the opinion of
the Board of Directors ) is involved, all members will
be assessed an equal amount to cover the $3,000
deductible underwritten in our current corporate
insurance policy.
8. In the event of an accident, which in the
opinion of the Board of Directors resulted from an
intentional violation of the FARs, the pilot involved
will be assessed the entire deductible of $3,000.
However, the member will be given an opportunity to
present his or her case before a final decision is
made.
9. Any member who deliberately lands an aircraft at
any place other than an airport will be totally
responsible for any damage or liability caused by the
incident with the exception of an emergency landing in
which the PIC is not at fault.
Aircraft Maintenance,
Repair and Construction
1. Certified aircraft owned by the Green Castle
Aero Club, LTD will be inspected annually. The
inspection protocols will be established by the Green
Castle mechanics.
2. Aircraft repair and maintenance cost are to be
authorized by club officers after consultation with
the Board of Directors. The club treasurer will pay
only bills which have been so generally authorized.
This does not mean for example, that a student pilot
on a cross-country flight must first consult with a
club officer before purchasing fuel at a distant
airport.
3. Any defect, damage or malfunction (minor or
major) shall be noted in the aircraft's Maintenance
Log and when possible, immediately called to the
attention of the Green Castle mechanics. Mechanics
will regularly check the Maintenance Logs to note such
squawks. As described above, PICs should also place a
note on the instrument panel of the aircraft to warn
subsequent users.
4. The Green Castle Aero Club, LTD encourages home
built aircraft construction or aircraft renovation.
Members should make all arrangements with the Green
Castle Shop manager before using the club's
facilities.
Note: Members should note that there are three
separate log books : The Maintenance Log, Fuel Log and
Rental Logs are kept in the Flight Office.
